Heat the tube in one end - to form a tiny collar Buy flies
Fix the tube to a needle (here a 1,8 mm tube) Tie in a piece of silicone tube to support the hook. Different size silicone tubing can be use according to your choice of hooks Buy flies
Tie down sections of deer body hair. Make sure to tighten each section securely. We preferably use PE lines for this job. In this case Fireline 4 #. Add sections until 3/4 of the tube is covered. Buy flies
Start the shaping process by cutting the body into a rectangular shape. Then trim the deer hair body into a V-shaped style. We prefer to use this Stone-fly trimmer from Hopkins & Holloway. Buy flies
Cut the belly flat using a razor blade. The flat belly is a crucial part of this pattern - This will enable the fly to slide on the surface - and act highly lively - Just like the real caddis. Buy flies
Add the tying thread and 4 quality hackles. Add tiny drop of super glue to fix. point Buy flies
Tie in two equal sections of whiskers from rabbit mask or boar hair. Split them up like shown on illustration. Whiskers should work as horns on the fly an could be double the length of the fly body. (fly seen from below) Add tiny drop of super glue to fix. point Buy flies
Turn hackles. Secure with thread. Whip-finish and apply super-glue to the head. Buy flies
Cut away excess tube and hackle in the bottom part of the fly - so it alines with the flat-cut belly. Apply flotant while fly still is clean and dry. Buy flies
